Nice to meet you
I'm Julia,
Born in the middle of Brazil, youngest of three, and people can't quite decide if I'm a golden retriever or a black cat. I'll let you figure that out.
I've lived in three countries, spent almost a decade as a pastry chef, and changed my mind (and my life) more times than I can count. Somewhere along the way, movement and sound became how I make sense of the world. The place where things soften and I come back to feeling like myself.
I believe movement is much bigger than what happens on a yoga mat.
It's there every time we change our mind, choose a different path, let go of something we've outgrown, or finally say yes to the thing we've been afraid of. Moving the body has a funny way of moving everything else, too.
That's why I'm drawn to the things that move me. The ones that remind me how alive life can feel.
This space exists because these practices changed my life. Now I share them in the hope they help you feel more at home in your body, and a little more alive in your own life.
If you're not sure where to start, let's have a chat. You might just find your groove somewhere in between.
I'm really happy you're here.

it's all in the name
with c·alma

The name says it all: calma means calm, and alma means soul in both Portuguese and Spanish, languages that live in my voice.
To do something with c·alma is to do it with presence, consistency, and soul.
I've spent years studying and exploring yoga, Reiki, sound, movement, and energy work across different teachers, traditions, and countries. Through all of it, one truth keeps finding me:

It's less about fixing anything, and more about creating space.
Somewhere between busy schedules, constant stimulation, and the pressure to keep achieving more, many of us lose touch with ourselves. Londoners... I'm talking to you.
But I don't think presence is something we have to chase. I think it's something we naturally return to when we slow down enough to notice what's already here.
Sometimes that starts with... movement,
or a deep breath,
maybe by lying down and listening.
Start with what makes you feel good, and notice how nothing stays the same for long.
Our bodies change.
Our relationships change.
What we need changes.
So instead of resisting it, we learn to move with it.
So here’s my thought: Movement isn't the goal - tt's the gateway!
The practice doesn't matter nearly as much as the fact that you begin.
I work with yoga, Reiki, sound, and movement, shaped by years of study, practice, and teachers across different countries and traditions. I’m not interested in an endpoint, this work keeps unfolding. And the more I study it, the more I understand movement as something larger than the body - as the way life expresses itself through us.
